Environmental Scientist Internship
The environmental internship offers hands-on experience and a wide variety of projects, collaboration with a great team, and exposure to a successful growing organization in the Atlanta area. Intern assistance in the field with environmental surveys, GPS work, and ARCGIS, and assistance in the completion of engineering design-related tasks for those interested in engineering. Involvement is associated with all facets of municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater-related projects from planning to design and construction.

R2T, Inc. is accepting applications for an experienced Project Engineer and/or Project Manager to join our growing engineering group in Atlanta, Ga. Typical assignments will entail engineering design, project, and contractor management of water and wastewater-related projects. Initial assignments will include performance and management of activities related to the ongoing wastewater collection system assessment and rehabilitation program.
Specific responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Sewer collection system assessment and design.
- Project management and contract administration for sewer systems assessment and cleaning contracts.
- Maintain contracts related to field activity, submittals, financials, and schedules.
- Coordinate with inspections and field engineering with inspection staff and managers.
- Organize and lead progress meetings with Contractors to discuss data, schedule, work assignments, and deficiencies; document and file meeting minutes.
- Create work order assignments as needed through the asset management system.
- Map creation and manipulation within ArcMap GIS.
- Coordinate with Community Outreach to keep them informed of ongoing and upcoming work.
- Provide QA/QC for assessment videos and data.
- Review and approve contractors’ pay applications.
- Maintain up-to-date project documents (RFI’s, final deliverables, and schedules) on project drives.
- Review and respond to Contractor RFI’s.
- Provide monthly progress reports and data metrics reporting.
- Utilization of Pipe Assessment Certification Program (PACP) certification to review and manage data received.
- Provide additional program support as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of progressive work experience in sewer collection systems planning, assessment, and design.
- BS or MS in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field is required.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely with written and verbal communication.
- Team player, a professional who is eager to collaborate and communicate with project team members. Must have the ability to interface with other disciplines and employees.
- Possess or have the ability to obtain PACP certification within the first 3 months of employment.
- Ability to coordinate and interface with other phases of a project, clients, and regulatory agencies as required.
- Proficiency in GIS-based software is required.
- Basic CAD software skills are preferred.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite.
- Ability to perform duties with only general supervision, with a capacity to exercise independent judgment and initiative for project-related tasks.
- Valid driver’s license.

Senior Project Manager Representative

We are looking for a Construction Representative (ConRep) to join our growing engineering group as we expand our Alexandria VA, office. This role will be a field-based member of an Owner’s Advisor (OA) team, responsible for monitoring and coordinating construction activities performed by a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR). The ConRep provides oversight of the CMAR and is responsible for ensuring that construction activities are carried out in strict compliance with contract documents, approved submittals, client procedures, and established collaborative delivery best practices. The ConRep may also be involved in pre-construction activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Field Oversight:
- Monitor daily construction activities of the CMAR.
- Provide field coordination for the CMAR and OA Inspectors.
- Review CMAR prepared logs, registers, correspondence, and schedules.
- Report on field issues and progress.
Team Leadership:
- Provide day-to-day direction to OA Inspectors to ensure proper oversight staffing for
- observation of CMAR activities.
- Ensure OA Inspectors are submitting daily inspection reports in accordance with client procedures.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Review and maintain records of CMAR correspondence, schedules, logs, etc.
- Review daily inspection reports on construction progress, issues, and compliance.
- Review of CMAR monthly payment applications.
- Review of CMAR requests for information (RFIs).
- Review of CMAR Submittals for conformance with the contract requirements, coordinate
- review of technical submittals with the design engineer.
Coordination:
- Facilitate communication between the CMAR, OA Inspectors, and other project
- stakeholders.
- Participate in pre-construction and construction phase meetings as required.
- Collaborate with CMAR, Project Design Engineer, Owner, OA team, and other
- stakeholders.
Quality & Compliance:
- Monitor CMAR compliance with safety plans, QA/QC requirements, and contract
- documents.
- Elevate unresolved field issues to the OA Delivery Manager for further action
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 10 years’ construction management experience in the public and/or private sector.
- Minimum 5 years’ construction management experience in water and wastewater industry. Exposure to linear rehabilitation work preferred.
- Prior experience directing field teams or inspectors.
- Experience in evaluating contractor-submitted proposed change orders, analyzing contingency requests, and providing recommendations to support cost and risk management decisions.
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate records, preparing reports, and using project management systems (e.g., Unifier, SharePoint, or similar).
- Strong understanding of safety regulations, quality assurance/quality control standards, and ability to enforce compliance.
- Familiar with Contract Administration, including understanding of contract terms, change management processes, and risk management.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, and the ability to multitask are essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with contractors, inspectors, engineers, and stakeholders.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience with and understanding of CMAR delivery method.
- Strong knowledge of trenchless technologies, sewer rehabilitation methods, and utility construction.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
- Familiarity with P6 CPM scheduling and ability to review and validate contractor schedules preferred.
- Knowledge of construction management software (Primavera P6, Unifier, etc.).
- OSHA 10-hour safety certification.
- DBIA or Associate DBIA certification.
